Why We Built This Site
Alabama records do not sit in one public database. The Cherokee County Detention Center maintains booking and custody entries, while the Circuit Clerk keeps Circuit and District Court charges and dispositions. Municipal courts retain their own cases. ALEA's Criminal Justice Information Services Division operates the fingerprint-linked state repository and registry, and the Alabama Department of Corrections covers current state prison custody. We collect verified contact details, official search routes, published fees, and request steps so those lines of responsibility are easier to follow.
What You Will Find Here
- Record explanations: how Cherokee County court cases, arrest files, bookings, and registry entries differ
- Official review instructions: how an individual requests their own fingerprint-based Alabama CHRI through ALEA
- Local contacts: where to reach the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, municipal courts, and city police departments
- Access and cleanup routes: how Alabama public-record limits and expungement filings affect a record search
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not an Alabama or Cherokee County government service. It has no authority over any court, sheriff, police department, jail, or state agency. Those limits mean:
- We do not retrieve official criminal histories or conduct government background checks
- We cannot submit an expungement petition, public-record request, or court filing for a visitor
- We do not issue certified court papers, arrest reports, booking records, or rap sheets
- We cannot offer legal advice about a charge, deadline, warrant, or individual case
- We cannot promise that an agency has not changed a fee, address, form, or public hour
An official copy must come from the office that maintains it, such as the sheriff, court clerk, city police department, ALEA, or corrections agency.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider operates its own service, controls its results, and sets any price it charges. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports free public access to this resource. We do not set the provider's terms, fees, coverage, or returned information.
